Gustau Camps-Valls (IEEE Fellow 2018, ELLIS Fellow 2019, IEEE Distinguished Lecturer) is a Full Professor in Electrical Engineering at the Universitat de València, where he leads research on machine learning and causal inference applied to Earth and environmental sciences. With a PhD in Physics, he has authored over 350 journal articles and 400 conference papers, along with 25 book chapters and 6 edited volumes on kernel methods and deep learning for geoscience applications. He is a Highly Cited Researcher since 2020, with an h-index of 100 (Google Scholar), and has been recognized by Thomson Reuters ScienceWatch as a “Fast Moving Front” researcher. He is the recipient of two prestigious ERC grants and numerous honors, including the IEEE David Landgrebe Award (2024), and is a fellow of the European Academy of Sciences and the Academia Europaea. His work is at the forefront of applying AI to model, understand, and predict complex Earth system processes using large-scale observational data.
