Design Drivers and Technology Innovations in Hyperspectral Instruments

Hypersectral Instruments are the new frontier for remote sensing from space. Although in use already from several years, both on-board of interplanetary probes, and for Earth remote sensing, their are far for being a mature product. New and more performing hyperspectral systems pose challenges on several technologies. The talk addresses the design drivers and technology innovation of the wide ‘spectrum’ of Hyperspectrals. Spanning from the very compact HyperScout, launched in a 6U Cubesat, to the one being developed for the next generation Copernicus Missions. Each of them requires a specific design optimization and present different technology challenges.
